Description
“Sudies I-XVII” is a collection of short, sparse, rhythmic pieces created with live instrumentation, samples of live instruments and the studio computer at hand, this intuitive set of stripped-down compositions is influenced by Ethnic & world music, free jazz improvisation, the morning ragas of Bismallah Khan, and the off-kilter reggae of Keith Hudson, as well as the Deroit-Berlin-London electronic music axis and the experimental/minimal compositions by Xenakis, Reich & Pierre Schaeffer.Rupert Clervaux is a composer, performer and engineer. As co-founder and songwriter in Sian Alice Group he performed
internationally as a drummer, percussionist and keyboard player, and has collaborated with Spring Heel Jack, Spiritualized, About
Group and New Build, amongst others. In his work as a mix and mastering engineer, he has made records featuring many of the
world’s leading improvisors and free-jazz musicians.
Beatrice Dillon is a producer, composer and NTS Radio DJ with releases on Where To Now? and The Trilogy Tapes as well as a string of
mixes for Blowing Up The Workshop, Rinse FM and Truants. She recently performed an improvised live set with Kassem Mosse at Tate
Gallery and has performed live and DJ'd across Europe.
They first worked together on Disarm, joining producer John Coxon to make an LP using instruments made from recycled firearms by
Mexican artist Pedro Reyes. They then collaborated on two commissioned compositions: one, ‘Sequence 1 - Notes Upon Woven Strings’,
subsequently performed live at MONA Festival of Music and Art in Tasmania, for release by The Vinyl Factory, and another for Haroon
Mirza’s ‘/0/0/0/0/‘ remix project. Another joint vinyl release, ‘Two Changes’, is due out later this year on Paralaxe Editions.
