RUSH HOUR SHOP TOP TIP

Here are some of the highlights of what we have in store for you this week.

Up first is the third release on the mysterious Space Grapes imprint, this time pressed on a sweet little 45 - a fun-laden double A-sider displaying that typical Space Grapes-type boogie bump funk.
‘Improvisation on Four Sequences’ is the first release in twenty-five years on Suzanne Ciani's own Atmospheric label and was taken from a quadraphonic live performance at the Antigel Festival in Geneva. A big Rush Hour store favorite!

Number three is Nat Birchall’s follow-up to last year’s universally acclaimed ‘Mysticism of Sound’, with Birchall once again playing all instruments - an unrivaled tour de force from this UK jazz phenomenon.

NDYDE honours the late great Mike Huckaby with a one-sided vinyl version of the Detroit producer and educator’s seriously deep and thoroughly moving remix of Skymark’s ‘Easy Saturday Night’. File under ‘Special Releases’.

Madteo stikes again with a hazy three-tracker on Honest Jons consisting of two reconstructed house jams and a sixteen minute downtempo excursion that sounds like nothing else - you need to hear it to believe it.

Special attention for the second part of ‘Inside’, a four track mini-compilation on Volcov’s Neroli with stellar tracks by Domu, Jamal Moss, Patrick Gibin and Kaidi Tatham and new kid on the block EDB.

‘Tunel Hacia Tí’ is a breathtaking selection of unreleased work by Mexican jazz synesthete Germán Bringas that freely moves between esoteric ambient jazz and wonderous synthetic pop cinema. Absolutely fantastic work!

In a whole different realm but a big tip as well is Christoph de Babalon’s dark and gloomy ‘044 (Hilf Dir Selbst!)’ on AD93, a break-infested ride through a dystopic underworld. You need to check this.

More toughness comes in the form of the ineradicable Bug, who is back on Ninja Tune with one of the hardest-hitting albums of the year, featuring the usual suspects like Flowdan, Daddy Freddy and Roger Robinson, with fresh blood provided by Moor Mother and FFSYTHO. We kindly suggest you get with the program or run for cover immediately.

Last but certainly not least is living legend A Guy Called Gerald’s ‘Trip City’, a beautiful new version of the legendary 1989 book and vinyl bundle of the same name - collectors take note!
