RUSH HOUR SHOP TOP TIP

Here are some of the highlights of what we have in store for you this week (week 27).

First up is Damon Locks and Black Monument Ensemble’s new album ‘Now’, a sample-based jazz project that reflects the social unrest, struggle and pandemic-induced fear and isolation of these last years in a beautifully poetic way. Heartbreaking stuff.

Up next is a record we’re very proud of; Vincent Floyd’s fantastic ‘Cruising’ on our Rush Hour RSS imprint. Originally released on Resound Records in 1990 ‘Cruising’ is a deep, hypnotic twelve minute ride through the Chicago underground with two bonus belters on the B-side. Absolutely essential!

Lucky number three is the smashing debut album by Hackney soul sensation Jerome Thomas, a silky smooth soul affair that comfortably floats somewhere between D’Angelo and Maxwell - a firm Rush Hour favorite.

Don’t miss out on Diggers Digest’s limited repress of VS Quartet’s impossible to find ‘A Pou Zot…’ album, a veritable treasure chest of spirited modern jazz with a plethora of Afro-Caribbean, Brazilian and Latin influences. Lovely stuff.

Be quick to acquire a copy of our limited upfront white label press of Lars Bartkuhn's new single ‘Transcend’, some properly deep house stuff on the Rush Hour label.

Your summer starts straight away with the four track mini compilation of Hugo Moolenaar’s Mocko Jumbie albums on Fredriksberg - four tracks of funky Virgin Islands soca business.

Mabuta founder Shane Cooper hooks up with some of the best players on the thriving South-African jazz scene including Bokani Dyer for his Happenstance project to experiment with a new form of post-modern musique concrète.

Lyckle de Jong’s ‘Bij Annie op Bezoek’ gets the remix treatment courtesy of Amsterdam bad boy Robert Bergman, Peter Graf York and Monty Dj for South of North.

Knekelhuis concentrates on post-modern ambient with a Fourth World-attitude from all corners of the world on their new compilation ‘And Felt Like…’, opening the door to discovery.

Last but certainly not least is Dutch/Australian producer Nadia Struiwigh’s latest and greatest for Nous Klaer, a beautifully blissful exploratory ambient trip through the mind.
