“You’re Young” by Your Song Is Good featuring Joelene (AGS-080 / KAKU-187).
Arranged by YSIG’s frontman, Jun ‘JxJx’ Saito, the result of this Mackey Feary Band cover is what you might call ‘Pacific Lovers Rock’ — a mellow, entrancing tune that gently sways while Joelene’s voice soothes. It’s a beautiful tribute to a beautiful song, which appeared in 1978 with Mackey Feary’s debut solo album following his departure from Kalapana.
Continuing the tradition of collaboration between Kakubarhythm and Aloha Got Soul — which started in 2018 with a cover of Babadu’s “We’re Not To Blame” featuring Nick Kurosawa and VIDEOTAPEMUSIC — we’ve tapped Jun Saito to arrange a version of Mackey Feary Band’s “You’re Young” for local singer Joelene to bless. Her previous appearance with Aloha Got Soul was on AGS-029, FRNT BZNZZ “Entitlement Issues” alongside Nick Kurosawa.
