Info from the Stones Throw site 'Aloe Blacc was the first American-born child and only son of Panamanian immigrants. At an early age, Aloe Blacc showed interest in music and the performing arts. He began playing the trumpet in elementary school. He continued to rock the brass through high school orchestra until his hip hop took him in another direction. At 16, Aloe Blacc released his first independent album, Imaginary Friends, produced by DJ Exile. The two went on to form the duo Emanon'.
