Description

Burning Spear's radical music defined and pioneered Roots music in the late 60s and early 1970s giving them a timeless quality today. Sir Coxsone Dodd, in turn, was the first Jamaican producer to promote this new Rastafarian-based music. Over the past fifty years Jamaica has produced many great singers, songwriters and musicians but few have ever been able to approach the sustained inventiveness, spiritual commitment to an ideal as Burning Spear.
