Description
Another essential Rush Hour Recordings release comes courtesy of Dennis Young. Young just released his solo album Old Dogs, New Tricks on his own Day & Nite label. Signal Up Ahead was included on this release and Rush Hour decided to press this track on 12, creating a Old Dogs, New Tricks album sampler. Signal Up Ahead is the most uptempo track on the album and is an hypnotic mix between wave, funk and world music. If youre thinking were tapping into the popular re-emerge of the 80s no-wave hype, youre wrong, because Young also happens to be the percussionist of the legendary, early 80s NYC group Liquid Liquid, whos most famous song is Cavern which was sampled by Grandmaster Flash White Lines. Hence the inclusion of Liquid Liquids Flextone on this 12, which to date was never reissued. Originally released on the Dig We Must ep on 99 Records in 1983. This 12 includes 2 new mixes, one edit by Glasgows JD Twitch from Optimo as well as a remix from NYCs Brennan Green (Balihu et al). Artwork comes courtesy of our main man Delta Inc.
