Description

Jazz and Gnawa fusion album recorded in Morocco by Bologna-based Fawda Trio and London duo LV (under their SwamiMillion alias).The album began with a live collaboration between Fawda Trio and SwamiMillion in Bologna in 2013 and culminated with a ten-day recording session in the old city of Essaouira in 2014, featuring local musicians including the acclaimed Gnawa master Maalem Soudani. The album is conceived as a journey to Essaouira and features original compositions by Fawda Trio, who work at the nexus of African-American traditions and Gnawa music with keyboards, percussions, and gimbri, as well as two electronic pieces based on sampling by SwamiMillion and covers of traditional Gnawa and Morrocan pieces.
