Description
Palette is inspired by Nicadrio Lee’s musical journey, which began in Honolulu, Hawaii, and has brought him to study in New York City.
Nicadrio’s own encounters in music and interactions with people prompted a question: “What makes a song sound and feel good?” He discovered that a song is not labeled “good” simply because of who is playing the music or because of how well an instrument is being played, but because an artist is able to inspire emotion through vibration, mood through sound, and life through music.
Palette tells a complete story of Nicadrio Lee’s experiences to date. It marks the beginnings of the journey in music that awaits this young musician.
Now in its sixth year as a fully fledged record label, Aloha Got Soul enters new territory with teenage guitarist Nicadrio Lee and his self-produced Palette, a bedroom city pop, math rock album of original songs recorded and performed entirely by the 19-year-old guitarist.
Comes on black vinyl or clear with purple vinyl.
Notes from Roger Bong, AGS founder:
"Nicadrio created this album in his bedroom with a dream of it being on vinyl… AGS is making that dream come true. He self-released this album digitally in spring 2020, only to have all his release party plans cancelled due to COVID. I heard it and knew it should be on vinyl. We then had many conversations / FaceTimes about the project, and personally I grew a lot from these interactions. His young, inquisitive mind had me thinking critically about what makes an album great. During these convo's he moved to NYC for university. Notably, the 19 yo guitarist prefers a full album experience — I feel like this is rare today, especially with youth. I pitched him the idea of releasing "singles" leading up to the vinyl release and he resisted, and changed my mind. Glad he did. We saved his release from falling into digital obscurity due to COVID's arrival and the fast-paced life we live in."
