THE OVERSTORY by SAUROPODA
Description
Sauropoda's second album draws inspiration from Richard Powers’ novel "The Overstory" and explores themes of connection between people and nature. The album delves into mythical figures, inner landscapes, sacred trees, and the intricate relationships that bind them together. It reflects on trees as bridges linking earth to sky, and the mundane to the divine.
Sauropoda is a Hungarian band formed in 2019, rooted in Budapest’s vibrant underground music scene. Their music defies easy categorization, blending jazz, rock, avant-garde, and oriental influences. The band crafts expansive, narrative-driven compositions characterized by complex musical structures and rapid genre shifts. Each song unfolds like a story, evoking a mystical ambiance through diverse musical techniques.
For their second release, Sauropoda joins Budapest’s emerging record label, Blue Sun. The band recently featured on the label’s debut cassette compilation, which included a live rendition of their track "Bugs In The Basement," recorded at the prestigious House of Music Hungary. This upcoming album marks their vinyl debut, featuring studio recordings of six narrative-driven tracks, including the anticipated studio version of "Bugs In The Basement." Recorded over Easter weekend 2024 at Zengőkert Stúdió, a creative house located in the remote countryside of Hungary's beautiful Zala region, the album resonates with the studio’s ethos of fostering connections between people and nature.
