Released in the late 70's (exact date unknown) on his own Samdy Records imprint, Reverend Sam Dixon's My Soul Say Yes is a lost, homemade gospel gem. A lifelong musician of the church, Reverend Dixon was a student of western and African music and played with gospel greats like Dorothy Norwood and The Blind Boys of Alabama before going into the seminary. Enlisting the help of his son Rodrick Dixon in the studio and members of his congregation at First Freedom Baptist Church in Ozone Park, Queens, My Soul Says Yes is a raw, spirited collection of soul music delivered with impassioned grace and full of beautiful, lilting harmonies. Reissued in an exact replica of the original LP jacket and featuring an interview with Reverend Dixon.
