Description

Beatiful compilation on the work and music of Cedric im Brooks !Cedrik Im Brooks was born in Jamaica but lived and played in the states as well. He explored ethiopian music and was influenced by the likes of Pharoah Sanders, Leon Thomas and especially Sun Ra (musically, mindstate wise and the approach of making music) which can be recognized on some of the more abstract jazzier tracks on this album. He also worked with Coxsone (Studio One). The album is very versatile; most of the titles are reggae based, but like stated above you'll find excursions into jazz, disco and african & carribean music. Most of the tracks came out on his own, nowadays very obscure 'Light of saba' label. The Packaging is again superb, and comes with a large interview from 2002 conducted by Honest Jon's. Very essential album and a big up to Honest Jon's for realizing this album and making these tunes available again!! Tip! Note: next to the three soundfiles attached, you can also check the soundfiles for the Africa/Sabebe 12' and the Lambs Bread 12' on Honest Jon's; those tracks are also on this LP
