Description
Varied release. Taking you from the funky house cut on A1 to the stomping techno house tracks on the flip. Check!Enigmatic Detroit-based vinyl-only label, Local Heat, puts forth its first release, which showcases both a distinctive group of artists and a sound endemic to the city of its creation. The EP opens with "Won't You," a disco infused track created by Sly Foxx label head, Appian and aimed towards those seeking a truly vibrant and moving floor. It is followed up on the A-side by a haunting, industrial, and brutally efficient rework of "Fit of Bodies - Emotional Suspect," crafted by Atlanta's own Stefan Ringer aka REKchampa.
The B-side shifts focus to a new element of Detroit's electronic scene: sludge. An aphotic, gritty, noise-laced sound, sludge was birthed out of after hours at local venues and parties, where it continues to grow. "No Crime," created by sludge purveyor, Marshall Applewhite, is a grinding, relentlessly pulsing, late night take on the new genre. Rounding off the release is a trashy, thrashy, pitched down track entitled "Bleed," created by local hater, The Friend that rides the border between drum machine funk and completely distorted pitch-black noise.
