R&S continues to delve into the bass-heavy unknown on its next single release, looking hard for the next James Blake perhaps? To be fair Cloud Boat aka Tom Clark is his own man and ‘Lions On The Beach’ is a strong statement of intent, its punchy 2-step rhythm sheathed in shimmering guitars and indistinct vocal swoons. Nice. ‘Bastion’ is out-and-out pop music with the vocals foregrounded, undeniably recalling Blake’s brand of hollowed-out bedroom torchsongs.
