Description

Debut for Russ Gabriel on the burgeoning We Play House label!Russ Gabriel takes up a lot of space in WPH label boss Red D’s record collection. From the early days of Ferox records up to the more organic days of Out Of The Loop Recordings, each and every release by Russ Gabriel was worth shelling out some cash. Way back somewhere early in the 21st century Russ Gabriel was invited by Red D to play at a party in Ghent, and the two got along like a house on fire, so it was with great relief that Red D noticed a return back to form by his British-but-living-in-Germany friend after a short hiatus from music production. And so it should come as no surprise that Russ Gabriel was asked to provide Red D with some deep music for We Play House Recordings. ‘Le Voyeur E.P.’ is the result of all this, and a result that will be the highlight of many discerning dj sets in the next months. On the A-side we first find ‘El Juan’, a track that was released on Ferox last year as a digital only release and which is now given a very well-deserved vinyl release. Vintage Russ Gabriel stuff somewhere between house and techno with some serious Detroit-influences. ‘Mister Din’ is the second track on the A-side. A quite stunning house burner that is driven by deep chords and a scorching saxophone lick. Two tracks that would be a full E.P. on the majority of house labels, with some needless remixes thrown in… But none of that on WPH, because on the B-side you will find yet another amazing track. ‘Le Voyeur’ is vintage Russ Gabriel. When you think nothing is happening, it’s happening right in front of you. Devine deepness from one of the true masters of the game, and a very welcome addition to the WPH family.
