Gandadiko, de titel van het zeer diverse en ambitieuze album van Samba, wordt vertaald uit het Songhai, zijn Malinese moedertaal, als “brandend land” of “land van droogte”.Samba’s gitaarspel is nooit eerder zo gedreven en rock ‘n roll geweest, en zijn stem was nooit eerder zo soepel. Het lijkt alsof hij overal tegelijk wil zijn, alles wil vertellen en alles wil laten horen. Zijn gedrevenheid brengt hem erg ver op dit prachtige bluesalbum.
