Coming off the back of their stunning UK debut live performance in London last Summer, Digital Soul is finally proud to bring you the debut EP from the Concrete Soul Collective, a mysterious group of self proclaimed 'funk tacticians' hailing from Sweden. Headed up by Kenny Black whose previous releases on his own Finest Blend Recordings have been criminally overlooked due to distribution problems, this Electronical Funk With Soul EP showcases the many styles the collective enfuse their smooth electronic music with. Co-produced by Collective member Simon J Hartley (Wildplanet - Warp Records / 430 West), 'No Illusions' is a perfect slice of deep techno soul, fusing a few simple elements into a funky, deep, head nodding groover that will send shivers down your spine. 'Zoulaar' features the hypnotic voice of Collective vocalist Ellisa which drifts amidst a sea of lush strings, deep chords and a relentless beat building into a beautiful track of funky melancholy. 'It's grooving' showcases the Collective's love of the jazzier end of electronic music, with its swirling filtered bass, broken beats, spaced out keys and robotic vocals fusing to create a track that really highlights their ability to enfuse the funk with pure electronic soul. Adding a further flavor to the EP, America's Brian Prince debuts on vinyl with a furiously funked out and wild techno remix of 'It's Grooving'.
