New Religion have joined forces with legendary UK electronic label, Applied Rhythmic Technology (ART), to bring you this very special project. In this joint release, New Religion combines new exclusive tracks from legends of the scene with fresh new talent to bring you 12 exclusive, previously unreleased works of A.R.T. Original ART-artists As One (Kirk Degiorgio) and Balil (Ed from Plaid) bring fresh new tracks, while a special treat from the vaults is in store from Neuropolitique & Derrick May and Carl Craig (as 69). They are joined by Anthony 'Shake' Shakir, Domu, Stacey Pullen, NewWorldAquarium and Ian OBrien to make this album a definite future classic. Also featured is a bonus ART classic - the rare Mayday mix of NeuroPolitique's 'Artemis'. For the first time available on vinyl. All tracks on this album are pearls on their own, from the more raw funk oriented things by Domu and Stacey Pullen, to the deep electronic freakiness by Shake, 69 and Newworldaquairum and a perfect end to the journey comes with Ian OBrien and Kirk Degiorgio, teaming up as Super-A-Loof to bring back the best memories to Derrick May gems as his remix of Inner Citys Praise and Icon. The Electric Institute is probably the most ambitious techno compilation to be put together since the days of the Virgin Detroit comps, Virtual Sex and Artificial Intelligence. ART's history brings us back to the early nineties, where new artists out of the blue found their way to a wider public. Especially the co-release with Rephlex - the album 'The Philosophy Of Sound And Machines', was a milestone in the evolution of the UK Techno scene. This album included tracks by Kirk Degiorgio (As One, Future/Past), B12, Aphex Twin (as Blue Calx), Neuropolitique, Balil (as member of Plaid and The Black Dog) and others. And formed together with Warp's Artificial Intelligence the basis of the golden era of early nineties UK Techno. Tracklisting: Balil / Glass Dual, Domu / Quarantine, Beetlejuice / Whatever happened to the cosmic kid?, Blue binary / Electric Institute Sector 1, As One / Remnant, Blue binary / Electric Institute Sector 2, New World Aquarium / Monkeyworld, Blue binary / Pyramid II, 69 / Puntang (edit), Neuropolitique / Artemis - Mayday Mix, Shake / The Stranger, Blue Binary / To the expoplanets, Stacey Pullen / Liquid Letter and Super-A-Loof / Night on the promenade. Out end Oktober, early November. Well recommended!!!
