Description
The late-70s New York jazz scene produced a handful of meetings that felt less like sessions and more like two artists opening a private door and this pairing of drummer-composer Joe Chambers with organist Larry Young sits firmly in that bracket. Chambers brings the restless, melodic sense that shaped so many Blue Note recordings, while Young's organ lines carry the same exploratory streak he took into Lifetime and the electric Miles orbit. 'Hello To The Wind' drifts with a loose, searching quality, before 'The Orge' and 'Mind Rain' tighten into sharper rhythmic shapes. On the flip, 'After The Rain' leans into a quieter, modal glow, followed by the crunchier edge of 'Message From Mars' and 'Rock Pile'. It's a document of two imaginations crossing paths at full stretch.
