Description
Following up the successful First Mini LP, here’s another killer EP of undercover Disco, Boogie and Musical Esoterica chopped up and re-mastered for modern dancefloor use.Escape from New York - Save our Love ( D.I.T.S. dub )
1983 New York, and three young disco heads are turning on to the euro sounds starting to cross the Atlantic, layering spacey synths over a rolling live bass and tight drum machine grooves for a potent hybrid released on iconic Hip Hop imprint Profile. Jaki Graham sang the original vocal, but Judicious edits here turn it into a dubbed out, floor rattling 21st century dancer.
Brian Eno - No One’s Receiving ( D.I.T.S Edit )
1977 , Punk is tearing things up in the the UK, but Brian Eno’s busy mixing metallic, percussive grooves and ethereal melodies with his own disembodied vocals to create a blueprint from which the Talking heads would soon be launched. This edit stretches the album version out and adds a little bit of kick to the bottom end for a hypno workout that shows just how far ahead of the game Eno was.
Spaceman 3 – Big City ( D.I.T.S Bring Back Sonic Edit )
It took Velvet Underground freaks Spaceman 3 a bit of time to get over what they saw as the forced smiles and mass produced hedonism of acid house, but when they finally embraced their inner ravers in 1989 ,Big City was born, and to this day sounds like nothing else on earth, as if the Jesus and Mary had got on one and jammed with Girogio Moroder in outer space - a psychedelic masterpiece.
World Famous Lobster All Stars – Working For Love Again ( D.I.T.S dub )
1st release on Morgan Khan's Streetwave imprint, this 1983 electro-boogie bumper gets stripped to the bone for those late night disco moments.
The Clash – the Cool Out (D.I.T.S Taking the Fifth Edit )
Talking of early 80’s NY the Clash’s epic residency at the Bonds Casino , Times Square in 1981 heavily shaped the last three years of their reign as disco , hip hop and rap found it’s way all over Sandinista and beyond .Nowhere was their dancefloor experimentalism better demonstrated than the bass heavy, proto - space disco of The Cool Out, the US 12” only version of the Call Up, here snipped up for added playability.
