Description

Cabaret Voltaire legend, Richard H Kirk, and the indomitable Ancient Methods take the skin right off Powell’s ‘Club Music’ (DIAG009) killers for the 1st remix-only release on Diagonal. Check!Ancient Methods takes pole position with two strong versions of ‘Club Music’. The ‘Körpersäure91’ remix fits the label’s fetish for Front 242 with a mighty display of stentorian holler, steel-tipped drums and acid-guzzling revs, taken to frantic techno-punk extremes with the double-timed, full body douse of ‘Pogo Im Säurebad’. Conversely, Richard H Kirk’s dressing down of ‘So We Went Electric’ fractures and disembowels the original in two parts. The Main Mix salts Powell’s slugger to a rasping, grinding shadow of its former self while retaining its stiff, coiled backbone; a desiccated Dub Mix leaves only traces of purified, metaphysical dread from the wild-eyed original in its wake.
