Combo Los Yogas was a short-lived early Colombian salsa band from Medellï¿½n directed and arranged by Anï¿½bal Josï¿½ ï¿½ngel Echeverri, the famous antioqueï¿½o keyboardist known as Anï¿½bal ï¿½ngel or simply Anï¿½n. Employing Barranquilla native Johnny Morï¿½ as his lead vocalist and a full combo with trumpet, trombone, congas and timbales, Los Yogas recorded a fantastic collection of cover tunes in the guaguancï¿½, son, guajira, descarga, and cha-cha-chï¿½ rhythms.The sound is very raw and hard, something that makes this obscure 1968 Discos Fuentes record a sought-after collectorï¿½s item. Thanks to the inherent quality and execution of its repertoire, ï¿½Caï¿½abravaï¿½ provides a wonderful snapshot of the influences and early development of the genre of salsa in 1960s Colombia.
