OLD DOGS, NEW TRICKS by DENNIS YOUNG

Dennis Young is best known his for marimba / percussion work with the highly influential New York City band Liquid Liquid, which is from the same school as ESG et al. They had a big impact on hip-hop and dance music and are best known for their dance hit Cavern used by Grandmaster Flash in their song White Lines. Old Dog, New Tricks is the new release by musician/recording artist Dennis Young on his own label. Eight additional musicians helped create this original collection of twelve songs that reflects his interest in alternative, jazz, and world music. Majority of the music was written and recorded live in the studio to create the atmosphere of a live performance. His trademark marimba and percussion are heard through out the recording along with a variety of other instruments that included electric and bass guitars, electric bowed banjolin, and trumpet. Several tracks include vocalist Salvatore Principato of Liquid Liquid. Old Dogs, New Tricks is taking the music we all know from Liquid Liquid to a next level, more mature music. A great collection of alternative, percussive jazz jams.
