Description

One of the most obscure albums on the Tribe Records label from the 70s -- and one of the greatest too! The Mixed Bag were a group that featured keyboardist Eddie Russ and reed player Larry Nozero -- both of whom worked together beautifully on Russ' classic first album for the Jazz Masters label, and who recreate a similar blend of funky fusion and righteous soul jazz for this set! The tracks are all pretty long, and built around skipping rhythms on drum and bass -- filled in by angular reed passages from Nozero, and topped off with some really sweet keyboards from Eddie (listed here on the label as Gaff Dunsun!) Titles include "La Margarita", "I Wish", "Maxine", "Ziaus", "New Moon", and "Shark".
