Hypnotic Brass Ensemble is an eight-piece group with Chicago roots and a current base in New York City. Seven members of the band are brothers; they're the youngest sons of Sun Ra Arkestra member/AACM co-founder Kelan Phil Cohran. Having studied with their father from a young age the brothers have been playing together most of their lives, but it wasnt until 1999 that they came together under their current name. They currently tour with Mos defThis studio CD has 9 tracks, including 'Jupiter' which was previously only available on limited 10" vinyl. But all tracks are great in our opinion; also check 'Pops riff' with playful vocal scatting along the Hypnotic's brass section. Limited copies in, so act fast if interested!
