Amidst rampant corruption, dozens of gangs, 25% unemplyment and it's crowning as the 'Murder and rape capital of the US', East St Louis had a Brilliant burst of creativity in the late sixties via The Young Disciples, a group of 80 kids who traded pool cues and guns for horns and drums at the behest of their teacher Allan Merry. Everey recording here emerged from Merry's grass-roots orginazation that not only changed but saved lifes.
