Great collection of black music from the 60's and 70's that reflects the political and musical radicalism of the time. This album is released in
conjunction with a major exhibition of the same name at the Whitechapel Gallery in London. Compiled by crate digger Steve Picton, the
album features music which has not received widespread recognition, bringing lesser known artists to the surface again. Not much of the selected tracks have been re-released since the time of their production. Features a selection of music from the classic dub of King Tubby, the cosmic jazz of Andy Bey, the Britfunk of Cymande to authentic Gangland Street rhythms from the late 1950's. Further featuring Eugene McDaniels, Lloyd Williams, The 24Carat Black
,Doug hammond etc.
