Description

New cutting edge Afro compilation from the makers of the highly rated 'Ghana Soundz' LP/CD. Here a selection of 12 rare afro tracks that have never been released outside of Nigeria.. Nigeria was one of the musically most productive & diverse countries in the seventies on the african continent and the album shows that as well; a selection of tracks where the afro sound merges with disco, soul, jazz, rock and so on. Only Fela Kuti and Orlando Julius are familiar names (to us) as contributing artists; some of the artists were also featured on Strut's 'Nigeria '70 ' compilation. As also with the Ghana Soundz album, there's extensive sleevenotes by Miles Cleret that will give you some info on these artists, taking them a bit out of the obscurity. Also a selection of photo's from some of the original album sleeves. Well recommended!! Tracklisting: The Sahara All Stars Alikali Adajo, Bola Johnson Lagos Sisi, The Mebusas Son of Mr. Bulldog, Fela Kuti & The Africa 70 Fogo Fogo, The Don Issac Ezekiel Combination Ire, Tunji Oyelana and the Benders Ipasan, Fred Fisher Asa-Sa, Orlando Julius and the Afro Sounders Mura Sise, Thony Shorby Nwenyi No Wrong Show, Victor Olaiya and his International Allstars Omelebele, Stephen Osita Amaechi & his Afro Rhythm Skies Afro Baby, The Martins Brothers Dance Band Ochonma.
