For over 30 years, George Evelyn has been navigating electronic music’s various shifts with his customary style.

Rooted in the sound system culture of his youth, Evelyn has guided his Nightmares On Wax project through the burgeoning hip hop movement of the 80s, Sheffield’s distinctive take on techno – bleep – proto house, and, of course, that most 90s of sounds, trip hop.

Now based in Ibiza, Evelyn is riding the crest of a late-career wave. Speaking to Paul Mardles, he discusses his ongoing renaissance, selling out the Royal Albert Hall and his pride at being given the Adrian Sherwood dub treatment.
