Description

An obscure gem of late 1960s rock/jazz/pop from Hawaii songwriter Gordon Broad, who cemented his place in Hawaiian music history in the 1980s when he composed the song "Sweet Lady Of Waiahole". His debut LP, Broad Way, offers nNostalgic flavors of a bygone Hawaii with inflections of psych, jazz, pop and garage rock throughout.

Gordon Broad paints unique pop portraits of Honolulu and Oahu with songs like "Waikiki Jungle" and "My Home Town", while more haunting moments like "Eye Of Spring" and "Righteous Morning" secure Broad Way as a must-have for any psych-loving collector.

Broad later expanded his music career by opening a recording studio and launching the Broad Records label in the late 1970s, for which he produced Playtime by Phase 7, Arthur Lyman's Island Vibes, and recorded several more iconic Hawaiian rare groove albums.

This LP is bound to intrigue any listener looking for something thoughtful. Especially for fans of Eddie Suzuki's High Tide, which was reissued by Aloha Got Soul in 2020.
