Techno release with a funky vibe on Kieran Hebden AKA Four Tet's imprint Text Records.Kieran "Four Tet" Hebden knows a good thing when he hears it. Hence, he had no hesitation in snapping up this debut EP from San Francisco-based producer Taraval for his Text imprint. Impressively, there's some impressive variety on show, with Taraval variously touching on dub-influenced Detroit futurism ("Gar's Highway"), snappy, cut-up deep techno-funk ("Streetways"), low slung late night groovery (the excellent, piano-laden "Doug's Prayer") and bouncy, in-your-face late night deep house (the powerful and pleasingly fuzzy "Gonna Rain"). If all his productions are this good, Taraval will be a name to watch in the months and years to come.
