DJ Halo and Chase 1 formed The Criminal Minds in 1985, and while at college, DJ Halo met Iceski, who would become lead emcee. Upon meeting another DJ called Spatts, they released their first EP entitled Guilty As Charged, funded by Halo selling his decks and the group, plus friends and family chipping in with some cash. Soon after, Safe D and CMD joined the group and they released Tales From The Wasteland, again, independently on their own label. Many tracks were recorded but not released in the following years.
