Highlights of week 25

First up is Carlos Niño´s beautiful new ´More Energy Fields, Current´, a soothing spiritual ambient jazz tour de force that features some of the best players on the current L.A. scene.
Up next is John FM´s dazzling new ´American Spirit´ EP for XL, a dizzying hodgepodge of hiphop, R&B, postbass and experimental sounds.
FM´s regular XL labelmate Overmono moves over to Poly Kicks with two big bad post-UK garage burners that will no doubt be all over a festival near you, provided they will be allowed again.
One of Sun Ra´s most accomplished and most loved albums, 1978´s ´Lanquidity´, gets the royal treatment in the form of a 4LP box containing remastered and alternative versions, unseen photos and extensive liner notes.
Special attention for the definitive edition of the 1973 Egyptian jazz classic by Salah Ragab and the Cairo Jazz Band, presented here in a double album version complemented by eight extra tracks from related sessions. A true gem and a firm Rush Hour favorite.
Joe Claussell presents ´Raw Tones´, his first full album since 2008´s ‘Corresponding Echoes’ - nine tracks of the sort of exquisitely soulful house very few can match.
You might not want to miss the special edition of Alfa Mist´s new album ´Bring Backs´ on exclusive red vinyl including a sweet little totebag. Very limited indeed.
Guitarist, researcher and intellectual Mário Rui Silva delves deep into the roots of his native Angolan music on the fantastic ´Stories from Another Time´. Big tip!
Check out the sophisticated boogie, soul and disco doings of Swedge 002. Hot stuff!
There are two new episodes of the Mr. K series in as well. Make sure to check them both.
