Records that electrified us in week 20!
First up is Curved Needle’s brainmelting new EP for Interstellar Funk’s Artificial Dance, an ominous batch of dark and menacing horrorwave exercitions - not for the faint of heart.
Up next is Electric Party’s ‘Play’ compilation on Knekelhuis that consists of three tracks from the impossible-to-find eighties ‘Work’ tape, originally released on Amsterdam cult label Fetisj and six unreleased tracks hailing from the heydays of the Dutch squat-art movement.
Number three is the first ever reissue of Sandra Sa’s classic ‘Vale Tudo’, a premium Brazilian boogie album that’s always been a firm Rush Hour favorite.
Sounds Familiar kickstart their new ‘7 Inch Nails’ series with a great little 45 by legendary multi-instrumentalist and brukmaster Kaidi Tatham, who wastes no time in laying down his special magic.
Our number five is a much-wanted house joint from the mid-nineties, ‘Ocean Between Us’ by Chris Brann & co under their Wamdue guise.
The atmospherical third episode of ‘Scores’ on Dekmantel is brought to you by Interstellar Funk and Guenter Raler, both pouring out their hearts in a singular way. Tip!
‘Vakondwana’ is a hot South-african bubblegum affair, backed by a lively house mix. Another winner on La Casa Tropical!
Guitar virtuoso Sebastião Tapajos hooks up with fellow genius Pedro dos Santos on the brilliantly quirky ‘Volume 1’, a wonderfully accomplished 1972 album now reissued on Vampisoul.
Warp re-releases three monumental albums by the legendary Seefeel - three genre-defying IDM masterpieces forgotten by time.
Last but certainly not least is a record we definitely didn’t see coming: CV Vision drifting off into sixties psychedelic rock territory for South of North to stunning results.
