Records that electrified us in week 15!

First up is Gianni Brezzo’s excellent new album for Into the Light, a breezy, introspective amalgam of lush downtempo, esoteric ambient and smooth jazz-lite for long hot summer nights on the patio.

Up next is the first ever collabo between Detroit electro gods Keith ‘K1’ Tucker and Gerald Donald (Drexciya, Dopplereffekt), a match obviously made in electronic music heaven. File under ‘instant classic’.

Special attention for ‘Took a Chance on Love’ by little known New Jersey group Satin Finish, a lovely little boogie seven with a sweet slow soul scuffler on the flip.

Another great record you need to hear is ‘The New Dun Language’ by Afrikan Sciences, an abstract afro-futurist groover that combines Detroit-style house, soul, bruk and jazz for a truely unique sound.

Wade in the watery sounds of ‘Enter the Zenmenn’ on Music from Memory, another record that’s perfect to start the summer with. Ambience, songwriting, sweet harmony - look no further than this sweet little album.

‘Morro do Barraco Sem Agua’ is a fantastic funky MPB gem on Mr. Bongo, one of the hottest sevens to come out this year so far.

Knekelhuis comes up with another winner in the form of the cinematic synth situation that is Ssiege’s ‘Meteora’. Check!

The Wizard Jeff Mills is back with ‘Think Again’, a new five track EP that combines his typical deep space techno sound with an expanded jazz sensitivity. Tip!

This week’s Dutch delight is No Honey From These’ ‘Over the Hill’, a six track tapewave EP with a punishing Rude 66 remix.

Last but most certainly not least is Sun Ra and Carl Craig collaborator Francisco Mora Catlett’s diptych for Far Out, a veritable melting pot of Afro-Cuban Jazz and tropicalia that’s way out there.
