James Pants back with a new Stones Throw LP - that's a big deal round here! Apparently ï¿½inspired by Martin Denny flourishes, royalty free breakbeats, Gary Wilson and Hamburgï¿½s infamous Golden Pudel club.ï¿½ he's on top form yet again, with more twists to the J Pants tale apparent - don't sleep (this maniac of sound obviously doesn't) ..Check!The record was composed solely via MIDI and a Yamaha Portasound PSS-480 and is an oblique homage to the Residentsï¿½ Commercial Album ï¿½ a 14-track record made up of sonic vignettes that sounds as good on a stereo set-up in the Amazonian jungle as it does coming through laptop speakers. Like Pantsï¿½ previous records, it sounds different to what has come before: Savage adds more of a lo-fi digital sheen compared to Welcome (2008), Seven Seals (2009) and James Pants (2011). Over those four years, heï¿½s honed his skills as a webmaster ï¿½ check rds.zone for his latest creations ï¿½ and stockpiled new music. In fact, there are more than 100 tracks that were considered for the release. As Pants explains, ï¿½Instead of laboring months over one song, I like to move quickly onto the next.ï¿½ Whatï¿½s emerged on this release is something full of (fake) emotion, set to an exotica beat.
