Description

Following on from a valued remix of Mosca’s Tilt Shift earlier in the year Swing Ting proffer up their debut release. Platt & Samrai aka Swing Ting are the DJ's behind the monthly Manchester club night of the same name, one of the city’s best dances, they drop deep soundsystem wares from garage to grime to reggae & hip hop. Highly influenced by other Manchester based producers such as Zed Bias, Marcus Intalex & Illum Sphere, Swing Ting are working hard to carve out there own aesthetic and take on the mix of electronic music that surrounds them. This two tracker represents their style with a fine blend of rugged sounds. The duo once again come correct, the production hums with depth and a sense of what works when it comes to ruffage. First up is “Creepin’, a pressurised & volatile work out driven by whip-crack snares. Gnarled & bubbling basslines bump under percussive frills & reverbed woodblock with gas-steamed effects adding to the menace. Not sounding far removed from the tightly wound housy grime of R1 Ryders mutated with ruder elements of Lil Silva this is a bonafide killer. Flip for “Hold Your Corner’ which is a warmer & more elevated affair with an infectious carbonated groove. Finely diced soulful stabs step energetically around a rooted sub-bass whilst a radiant horn riff moves the track forward.
