Well known for his Rednose Distrikt involvement, Kid Sublime decided to drop some solo joints. He recently gave us his midtempo house project 'Basements Works' on his Jahwell/Rush Hour imprint. Now he's taking things a bit more on a smooth tip with his 'Basement Soul' related 'Fruitsugar ep' featuring the voice of Nigerian singer Yinka.
Kid Sublime really show us his production skills on this one, giving us three dope songs. 'Fruitsugar' is their take on the soul classic 'Fuel For the Fire' by Larry Young, with new lyrics by Yinka, almost sounding like Erykah Badu. 'Wayz Reprise' is Kid Sublime's version of the Yinka soul song 'Wayz' that was on her previous album. 'Wahala' is featured on the b-side and takes things a bit more afro house. Steaming, infectious and entrancing music for the body and soul. Damn!
