MY TAPE DECK by MC MELODEE X COOKIN' SOUL

English rapping dutch MC Melodee meets spanish production duo CookinSoul (produced for Mac Miller, Redman, Dom Kennedy and Pusha T among others) for a limited edition vinyl release of their critically acclaimed “My Tape Deck” album!MC Melodee has been active in the music industry for over 15 years. Besides being a writer and performer she has been the leader of her band La Melodia with whom she performed all over the globe. During a European tour in 2011 Melodee met Cookin’ Soul from Spain, one of the power houses of the European hiphop scene. Melodee and Cookin’Soul clicked right away. Heads bopped, inspiration flew and songs were made, leading to the successful release of the “Check Out Melodee” mixtape including collaborations with Billboard #1 artist Mac Miller. Since then Melodee and Cookin’Soul spent countless hours in the studio in between Valencia and Amsterdam and now their debut album “My Tape Deck” is finally coming to life. An album quoting the sound of the golden age, the sound of Crooklyn Dodgers, Brand Nubian and Slum Village but at the same time applying a comtemporary perspective. Hitting BoomBap drums are complimented by warm basslines and tastefully picked and skillfully chopped samples In comparison to the „Check Out Melodee“ mixtape the album is more personal ranging from family stories („Firstborn“), loosing and finding your path in life („Up In The Clouds“). And when Pharcyde joins the party you know things just got serious. 1999 never sounded that fresh in 2013.
