JAZZ SEMAI by V/A

'Jazz Semai', the first Jazz album ( LP ) ever recorded in Turkey, features Tuna tenel on piano and saxophone, Kudret ztoprak on bass and percussion, Erol Pekcan on drums. At last, this rare, hard-to-find, collectors item album is now back on vinyl newly mastered and edited.This is somehow an homage to these 3 musicians whose contributions are undisputed in the evolution of jazz in Turkey. It is also an opportunity for aficionados who missed to obtain a copy due to its limited print or for anyone who is keen on hearing today the roots of Jazz in Turkey. Back in those days, �Jazz Semai� was an highly acclaimed effort, considering the limited environment for jazz in Turkey. All tracks, except one, were Tuna �tenel original compositions. It was recorded and mixed in March, 1978 in Ankara, at �mit Eroğlu�s studio. Later, it was released under Nova M�zik Records under the direction of Nino Varon. On this new vinyl edition, included an extended liner notes that feature quotes from various musicians and critics who were either touched or influenced by the art of these 3 innovatives jazz musicians of the early Turkish Jazz scene.
