Description
Inhabiting a similar musical space to bands like Polar Bear, Led Bib and Acoustic Ladyland, Examples of Twelves present a suite in three parts that seeks to extend the vernacular of Modern British Jazz. Taking inspiration from sources as diverse as the collaborations of Gil Evans and Miles Davis alongside metaphysical poetry and Science Fiction, 'The Way Things Are' is a refreshing and eagerly awaited addition to today’s jazz scene. The band is headed by Nostalgia 77 bassist Riaan Vosloo and includes some of the most talented and exciting young players in the UK.Textural soundscapes evolve underneath the main voice of Fulvio Sigurta’s trumpet, incorporating snatches of electronics and processed elements that develop throughout the piece. The suite takes part of its structure from the Dylan Thomas poem ‘and death shall have no dominion’, continuing the tradition of Stan Tracey’s Under Milk Wood.
