Something quite wonderful happened yesterday evening. With "Hunch Music" released on Rush Hour, Hunee won the 3VOOR12 award for best Dutch album of the year. It's the first independent electronic music record winning the prize.

The jury stated: "In the past eleven editions, the 3voor12 Award has had several winners, but never an electronic album. Reason for change. Hunch Music won, because it is refreshing and extraordinary musical. It is a complete ride, with changing moods, that keeps surprising. An album that is hard to categorize and that is also easy to fall in love with, even when you don't fully grasp everything yet."

Hunee replied: "So, last night "Hunch Music" won the "Best Dutch Album Of The Year" award 2015 from 3voor12 (main platform for "indie music" in the Netherlands, traditionally a place for indie rock, singer/songwriter, rap music and such).

Award shows are a funny thing. I think, we, as musicians and people working within sound, go to our (bedroom) studios and program some drums, sequence the baseline, play these melodies and that's our work and our struggle, and our joy and eventually our reward. It's never about winning - because every good track you've written, that's your award!

But receiving this award has a significance, in that it's the first independent electronic music record winning it. So I do hope it is sign of a shift in dutch indie music industry, so all those brilliant and talented people writing beautiful electronic music in the Netherlands (like Legowelt, Young Marco, Juju&Jordash, San Proper and many others) will have many awards coming their way.
Thanks to Jordan, Matt, Hannes, Marco, Wouter and the whole Rush Hour family for creating this album with me. Keep hunchin..."
