“Whatever happened to Kenny Larkin?” my old time former techno friends ask me every now and then, having just sent their offspring into their suburban gardens. “Oh, nowadays he’s a comedian in Los Angeles”, is the reply.Always good for frowns and cries of amazement. But this is not entirely correct. Indeed, Kenny Larkin sold everything he had in order to fulfil his dream thousands of kilometers West of Detroit. Despite the fact that at that moment he was one of the hottest techno producers on the planet with lucrative recording contracts and a full diary. But Larkin had lost the fun in what he did. Techno threatened to become music for the guys with raised fists. The melody had gone from the genre and, above all, the dance scene was rapidly becoming commercialized. Kenny Larkin saw it coming, held up his hand and closed the door behind him.

“That was definitely a major step”, says Kenny Larkin when questioned about his decision. “But I was no longer happy in Detroit. I had a big house, a few cars and my own studio. And I thought: is this all there is? So I decided to move to Los Angeles. That’s where all the comedy clubs are located. That’s where it needed to happen.”

A compilation of Kenny Larkin’s best work was long due. Almost 20 years after his first productions this is finally happening. This 2xCD  follows the 12” series that was released over recent years and it includes all those tracks, 21 in total, including many classics like ‘Vanguard’, Chasers’ or ‘Soulman’.  All tracks have been re-mastered for this release. The DVD packaged box will be come as a limited edition of 1000 numbered units. It will also include a free download of a DJ mix by Kenny Larkin himself.
