Description
New mix CD on Mexican recordings by Mexico's Tropikaza !What you are about to listen is Mexican music: recorded in Mexico from 1964 to 1979. From early 40´s to late 70´s, Mexico City
was the Mecca of Latin America music business. During this time, via the radio airwaves, music produced in Mexico became well
known and was a big inuence all over the continent, from the Caribbean islands to Patagonia. During that time legendary musicians came to live, record and perform in the US, aiming to spread their unique art. From Perez Prado to Joao Gilberto, Silvestre Méndez or Andrés Landero to name
a few. In this mix, you will notice the traces of African music inuence. West coast funk and soul, salsa dura, tropical jazz, disco
and psych, mixed together as it was on a regular day at a local top recording studio. While Mexican recordings were making their
way through the Americas, rhythms and drumming styles from the afro heritage of the continent owed freely through the mexican
grooves. Here´s just a little bit of how we used to do it back in the day, the Mexican way.
