Conforce goes deeper into Delsin terrain... a very cool four tracker!Preceding the release of his next full length album, Dutchman Conforce has selected four tracks to release as the Dystopian Elements EP. But don’t let the title fool you because, as is often the case with Boris Bunnik, there is a warm analogue/digital harmony to his sounds which is more than worthy of its place on Delsin. First is ‘Luminous’ where a tantalising deep house tempo looks to the future with its clean synths and sci-fi atmospheres. Serene yet purposeful, it moves forwards where next track ‘Desolate Ground’ prefers to tread water – languishing in plenty of lateral chords and yet more deft but devilish detail for its dubbed-out entirety. Sparse and spare, yes, but warm and enveloping at the same time. ‘Lonely Run’ again mines a cerebral vein, but one with a muted acid bassline and a heightened sense of edginess thanks to the exquisitely designed sounds and surfaces on show. ‘Vacuum’ is the most dancefloor, with tight hi-hat rotations and a muffled, muted bassline all seemingly trying to surface from the depths of a deep dark ocean. Overall it’s subtle, expansive and dub-wise stuff that oozes with genuine class and real restraint.
