Description

Holger reveals his more playful side with a limited edition 7” on Claremont 56 with remixes of Hit Hit Flop Flop & Hey Baba Reebop. 350gsm gloss laminated sleeve, printed inner sleeve, transparent yellow vinyl.Hit Hit Flop Flop In the music that comes from Brazil you will often find an exotic instrument called Guiko. It creates a squeezing sound which reminds me of the word ‘hit hit flop flop’. On a warm sunny day I found some children who were swimming in a lake nearby. I asked them if they could sing ‘hit hit flop flop’ for me which I spontaneously recorded without letting them know. This recording became a key sentence of this song. Hey Baba Rebop In 1986 I began to work on a track in the Can Studio. For this track I used the first hardware sequencer at that time because it created a special drive. I had a live performance of the Jazz musician Lionel Hampton in mind who played live in Hamburg in the fifties. While Hampton was presenting his Hey Baba Rebop dancing on a drum and sweating out his last drop of water the audience broke the furniture into pieces and devastated the hall. I decided to give this machine influenced ecstasy the name of Can’s percussionist Rebop.
